Refund Policy

We promptly send refunds once we receive by mail:

  1. A signed letter requesting a refund. Note: Signature must be by the same person who signed the agency form.

  2. Proof that no reduction in assessed value was obtained, and our application for appeal of assessed value was withdrawn or denied:

PTAA will, if appropriate, submit an informal review directly to the county assessor as a first step. If this review is not accepted, we will automatically appeal your assessed value. The appeals process may take an extended period of time, and in the meantime you may receive your new tax bill. Please pay your tax bill on time and you will receive a refund of overpayment of taxes when our appeal is successful. If the appeal is not successful as a result of our efforts, you will receive notification and you will be eligible for a refund. In the case that your reduction does not cover our fee, we will refund you the difference between that reduction and our fee.

Submit your request by postal mail to our main San Diego headquarters address, also found here.
